Based in New York City, Saranya is a photographer and visual storyteller and completed her Master's in Digital Photography at the School of Visual Arts. Originally from Hyderabad, India, she made the perfectly logical career leap from law school to photography trading courtroom arguments for a camera and never looking back.
Her work spans event, documentary, editorial, and fine art photography, with a growing body of commissioned work across cultural institutions, schools, and publications. She has photographed classical dance performances, international jazz and literary festivals, and produced documentary work for government schools, alongside corporate and editorial commissions for clients across India.
Her background in law and the humanities is less of a detour and more of a secret weapon bringing a research-driven eye and a sharp instinct for narrative to every frame. Saranya's practice sits at the intersection of the artistic and the journalistic, shaped equally by her legal training at Jindal Global Law School and her studies at SVA.
